Ghazal Nite

Ghazal NiteLast Saturday , the three dudes :Idi , Rips and I , had gone to attend a "Ghazal nite" at Oberoi (couteousy Idi) . Lucky us that it wasn't pouring ,both on the way to Oberoi and back home.

Well to start with , Idi had few passes and was priviledged enough to get our company to the show . It was supposed to start by 7:30 p.m. and to our surprise started right on time i.e. 8:30 p.m. the time when we reached the place..right on time .

It was great to see our favs Ghazal maestro's to name a few Pankak Udhas , Anoop Jalota and others performing right in front of us. It was a lovely Ghazal kinda ambience , dark and gloomy, with the singers performing their best of Ghazals , accompanied by their Band( donno what they call to the group of musicians performing in a ghazal ) which included guitarist, flute player , tabla and violin player..was just mindblowing . The Sharab was pouring cats and dogs (Monsoon hangover ),and Idi got his First peg .What we could hear was just "Wah wah.. ".and "Wow Wow ..." (the english rendition of Wah wah ..started by us ) in between the Ghazals. Seemed like , people were competing for the loudest "Wah wah .." ,though we soon realised that the loudest "Wah wah .." generally implies that the Shayari was COMPLETELY understood by the person ...So what we were waiting for ......we cried our lungs out with "Wow Wow's , though we could hardly understand the heavy urdu lyrics..and u can imagine wat Idi must be going thru ). Thankfully for him , I was there to translate few of the urdu lyrics ..and in the process invented quite some new meanings .

Well , finally the time had come for which were waiting imaptiently....the dinner was served .After dinner we three were totally energized for another round of Wow Wows... Idi still with his First Peg ( guess he had lost the count enjoyed it ( the Ghazal ) i guess to the fullest . It was around 12:00 when we departed ,after a memorable musical nite.
